Mentoring for ICSE 2014

ICSE 2014 Mentoring – Call for Submissions (Download this call for submissions as a PDF)

The ICSE 2014 mentoring program provides prospective submitters the opportunity to obtain advice on the structure and content of a prospective submission. Each paper submitted for mentoring will be read thoroughly by one mentor. Mentors will spend considerable time reviewing a submission, and will provide high-level feedback on its structure and content. A mentor may also suggest that the work is more suitable for another event at ICSE, such as ICSE Workshops. Mentors will be anonymous unless they choose to identify themselves. The list of mentors will be published after the submission deadlines are over.

ICSE has had a mentoring program for the research track. The submission for mentoring of research track papers for 2014 has concluded on July 1st. In 2014, mentoring is being made available to SEIP track authors as well, for the first time. Authors interested in availing this opportunity can submit papers via Easychair during the period July 2 - August 10. Any paper submitted for mentoring by August 10 will be returned with detailed comments to the author by September 20.

Eligibility
In the following, we give the criteria for the mentoring of ICSE SEIP track papers. To make the best use of the program, each submission must be submitted only once to the mentoring program, and should meet the following requirements.

  • None of the authors must have previously published at ICSE research track or ICSE SEIP track. The goal of the mentoring program is to help grow the ICSE community, so prospective authors who already have access to a mentor in the community should not apply to the program.
  • The submission must be a polished and mostly-complete manuscript in the ICSE 2014 conference format. So that mentors can make the most of their reviewing time, papers submitted to the mentoring program should be spell-checked and carefully reviewed for missing words and obvious grammatical problems. Mentors will offer high-level suggestions on the structure and content of the paper, but will not provide basic editorial services (e.g. catching typo, spelling mistakes etc).

Papers that meet the above requirements will be forwarded to the available mentor with the best matching expertise. Requests will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis while mentors remain available, but until August 10th at the latest.
